Ninth session of the General Assembly
The ninth session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage is held at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, from Tuesday 5 to Thursday 7 July 2022. Over three days, 180 States Parties are gathering to discuss issues that are important for the safeguarding of living heritage around the world and the future of the Convention. These include notably the global reflection on the listing mechanisms of the Convention, the Plan for the use of the resources of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fund and the accreditation of non-governmental organizations. In addition, twelve new members of the Committee will be elected.
Documents are made available in the six working languages of the General Assembly (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) on this webpage. Out of concern for the environment and in order to reduce costs, printed copies of the documents will not be provided. Simultaneous interpretation of the debates will be provided in all six languages through a live webcast.
Representatives of States Parties and observers are invited to register online. Registered participants shall enter from UNESCO’s Suffren entrance located at 125, avenue de Suffren. In light of the current COVID-19 situation in Paris, participants are highly encouraged to wear a mask at all times on UNESCO premises, except when taking the floor.
A number of side-events are planned during this week, as described on the following calendar of events.
